Westbury Square: Once Upon A Time In Houston
 by Dennis Sentenac
Westbury Square.
Although I’ve been a Houston resident for roughly twelve years I never heard of Westbury Square. But it was just recently presented to me in such glowing terms that I had to make a visit. A generation of Houstonians spent their formative years visiting the place- built in 1959 - and they retain to this day a great deal of emotional attachment to it.
Its heyday ended with the appearance of the indoor mall, including the Galleria built in 1970. Over the ensuing years a good portion of the Square has been razed. But there is still enough of the original construction for a relaxed visitor to calmly walk the place, camera in hand, communing with the ghosts of good times past. They are there. We hope that our alittlecommonsense original slide presentation will bring smiles to the faces of our readers in Houston and its environs, spurring them to think about the future of what remains of Westbury Square.
