It's All About The Money

by Dennis Sentenac

Remember way back when Barack Obama was a mere candidate?

He initially agreed with John McCain to accept federal campaign financing limitations. But when his collection plate unexpectedly runneth over, he recanted.

From that moment on he accepted donors largesse unfettered.

To make the point here is a quote from a 19 June, 2008, article in Politico:

”In a widely expected move that will give Democrat Barack Obama a huge cash advantage over Republican John McCain, Obama announced Thursday morning that he will be the first modern presidential candidate to decline public financing in a general election. That means that Obama's campaign, which has shattered fundraising records, won’t accept the federal system’s $84 million in taxpayer money, but also won’t be subject to its $84 million spending limit.”

Left unsaid was that by rejecting federal funds Obama was also freed from having to limit private donations.[**]

President Obama went on to spend over $740 million in his winning bid. [***] But stop and ask yourself: Who were the people that gave him all that money? Surely the bulk of the more than seven hundred forty million dollars was not in dimes and quarters from your local third grade class, which is what his handlers want us to believe. Instead, he redefined campaign giving:

“Obama calls his many donors a new system of ‘public finance,’ but if so where is the disclosure? His donor list is the least transparent in a generation.” [**]

This makes it difficult to identify exactly who are the real forces behind President Obama.

But you can make a good case that it includes a man named Soros, first-name George, whose internationalist left-leaning politics combined with mounds of his currency-speculating cash may explain some of Obama’s bizarre decisions, most recently to have the Al Qaida Five tried in New York City.

Here are a couple of web-sites with articles to ponder:

Money talks, especially in politics, and it just may be that George Soros has one of the loudest mouths in town. It’s just that we mere citizens can’t hear him.
