Tis the Season

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … toys in every store ... But the prettiest sight to see, is the holly that will be on your own front door …” And so it goes.

The holiday season is in full force already. But I’m the last person who’d be complaining about an early tide of Christmas spirit. God knows we all need more excuses to feel good and be kinder to our fellow human beings. Christmas is the perfect opportunity.

For me, those warm fuzzies come on full-force when I see the influx of shiny decorations, bright holiday lights and pumpkin spice lattes.

What is it about the holidays that gets me so fired up?

During the Christmas season, we all act a little more like the people we want to be. We’re nicer, we’re spirited, we smile at silly Santa hats and give money to bell-ringers. The question is, why aren’t we filled with this kind of cheer all year round?

I think Christmas reminds us of our childhoods … our days of wonder and merriment. It gives us a chance to act young again, to engage in festivities and forget our worries.

I know I feel like a little girl when I don my Christmas jewelry and sip eggnog beside a roaring fire. There’s nothing better.

If there were a Christmas-town, I’d live there. Heck, I’d work in Santa’s workshop if I could. Holiday cheer, 365 days a year? Who could ask for anything more?
